Vampire Make Up: It’s In The Details
Vampire makeup and costumes are a popular choice for celebrators of Halloween and throughout the year. The costume is relatively inexpensive; just buy a good cape and possibly a vampire wig and realistic looking fangs and teeth to go with your vampire costume.
Your makeup, though, is the finishing detail that actually makes your entire Halloween guise believable and fun. If you’re going to be a vampire, make sure your makeup is perfect! First, because vampires are undead, many people prefer white pancake powder or oil based foundation to cover the skin of the face and neck. Of course, if you want to go as a more modern, hip vampire, many people forego this look and keep to black hair wigs and alluring makeup.
So the choice is yours – a more traditional vampire with a white face, or a contemporary vampire with slightly lighter or normal skin tones.Details are critical. For example, most vampire costume connoisseurs prefer bright red lipstick to emphasize the lips and teeth. Be sure to apply the lipstick carefully though; sloppy makeup is worse than no makeup at all!
One additional option is to put a few touches of “fake blood” at the corners of your mouth, but if this isn’t very well done, it may look corny instead. Use dark colors, such as blues, and purples for the eyes. Use eyeliner to emphasize the eyes. Avoid bright or pastel colors. No need for blush, so with the proper eye makeup, your disguise is finished.
With this bit of makeup, you’re on your way to being recognized as one of the most newly dead undead. You can even get bite tattoos for your companion to wear on her unlucky neck!
